Freisa 2021
Freisa (Latin for strawberry) is an Italian grape variety from Piemonte, first documented in the middle ages. The grapes for this delectable red wine are grown in Havelock North by the Tuki Tuki river. A vibrant and savoury drop, with flavours of Pork Roast, ripe tomatoes, blueberries, prunes and figs, drizzled with cinnamon-like spices. It is coated in fresh and upfront tannins which brings depth and power. A modern, fusion take on an old variety that will match BBQs, game and Asian street food.
Optimum drinking time is 2022 to 2025, good ageing potential. Optimum serving temperature is room temperature (16-20 °C).
